What does it take to be an ICT Student?

The difference between then and now is modern technology. Modern technologies have changed our lives. Computers have become a part of our society. In modern countries life is no longer conceivable without having a computer at home that is connected to the net. As a student, we are also learning regarding about this matter and this subject is what we call Information and Communication Technology.
The main purpose of ICT in education means implementing of ICT equipment and tools in teaching and learning process as a media and methodology. The purpose of ICT in education is generally to familiarise students with the use and workings of computers, and related social and ethical issues. Information and communications technology or information and communication technology, usually abbreviated as ICT, is often used as an extended synonym for information technology (IT), but is usually a more general term that stresses the role of unified communications and the integration of telecommunications (telephone lines and wireless signals), computers, middleware as well as necessary software, storage- and audio-visual systems, which enable users to create, access, store, transmit, and manipulate information. In other words, ICT consists of IT as well as telecommunication, broadcast media, all types of audio and video processing and transmission and network based control and monitoring functions.

My Dream: My Future

My vision for the future entails many goals that I know I will have to work hard to achieve. I feel that the path to accomplish my goals will be through hard work within my education. What is my dream in the future?
If you ask me this question in my childhood, I would say, “I want to be a teacher, a doctor, an actress and so on. But now if you ask me this question, I will tell you I have three dreams, to be a valued person, life very colourful and beatific, and have a great job.
First, I want to be a respected person. I know many people want to be a famous person because they think maybe many people will adore and respect them, but in my opinion, I want to be an ordinary and not ordinary person. The reason why I want to be an ordinary person is that I want to be a low-pitched person, and the reason why I want not to be an ordinary person because I want to do things at a very high-key. If you want to be a respected person, first you must respect the other people and respect yourself. Second, I want my life to become colourful and beatific. I think life is not only hard work, but also we must know how to enjoy our lives. Enjoying life doesn't waste money. We should use these to do some significant things. For instance, we can contribute our money to help the poor and homeless children, we can travel to somewhere to see the nature scene, we can buy books or collect our interested things to enrich our lives, and also we can have time to play with our families. Third, I want to have a great job. This job must to be interested because I can do everything which is very exciting.
Maybe you are thinking that my vision in life is difficult to achieve that I may not be able to reach it but I want to try my best for me to reach my goals. I hope my life in the future will be successful. I know everyone has their own dreams, so I hope your dream also come true.

Kannawidan: The Ylocos Festival

This festival, celebrated on January 29 to February 5, also highlights Ilocos foods, arts, trade, crafts, and products. Witnessing all this makes one realize the beauty and dignity of Ilocos culture and people. We should be proud of our Ilocano culture. Like the beauty of the Bayanihan Dance Company show which proudly featured the Filipino culture in songs and dances, the tribal rituals and dances of the province summarizes what Kannawidan Festival is all about.
The province has a rich heritage and unique cultures that need to be preserved for the next generations. However, many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano cultures were not already familiar to the younger generations due to the influence of the television, computer and internet. But, through our Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, these traditions, customs and cultures are revived to become more entertaining to give more fun and attractions to the visiting tourists in the province. Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, which is the official annual festival of the province our tourism industry was enhanced and helped boost the demand of our products, more job opportunities and livelihood opportunities were crated and more income for our people were generated.
The festival not only brings us takes one back to the roots; it also enables one to look into the future through art created by children. Their art speaks of their belief in the beauty of the world as gift from the Creator. Their songs and dances outshine any sadness this present world has thrown at them.
